Xuelong An Wang

Hello World! I’m An Wang Xuelong, a junior researcher interested leveraging deep learning to address global healthcare challenges, including cardiovascular diseases and cancer. I’m currently a PhD candidate at the University of Sheffield, where I’m very fortunate to be supervised by Dr. Chen Chen and co-supervised by Prof. Andy Swift. In particular, I’ll be working on advancing the interpretation of electrocardiograms via multimodal deep learning, whilst addressing human-centred challenges.
I aim to strike the balance between building performant models with human-centric concerns such as interpretability to shed-light into the black-box and model compression to ensure affordability of the overall system. I’m particularly drawn to multimodal approaches such as vision-language models, and ensuring their robustness via the introduction of inductive biases.
